I have not kept up writing with my blog due to my day job. I pledge to be more consistent.
I decided to paint my home during the hottest time of year in Ocala, Florida. I started after Memorial Day, and it took me six days from start to finish. I painted the house a stark bright white with a satin finish and a glossy medium grey for the trim.

After I painted the home, I painted my porch chairs with the remainder of white paint. Since it was exterior paint, the furniture was fully coated with one painting. I also painted the front planters with white paint and grey paint to match the house. It was a lot of work but working with what you have is the best way to save money and maintain your home.

My dad bought the vintage porch lamps at Home Depot without the light covers. My dad got a great deal because of the missing covers. For years I used two cardboard cutouts to use as covers.
I decided to invent a creative solution. I took an old plastic folder and cut it down to size. I cut four pieces and attached two pieces to each other. I then took a roll of silver glitter tape and wrapped it around the plastic Square. Here is the result

My final step is to paint the lamps a rich black to contrast against the white. But that’s another post.
